Student Loan Refund FAQs

When will I receive my Loan Refund check?

Loans require a student to have confirmed enrollment in 6 credits at the time funds are applied to student accounts and completion of Loan Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note. Enrollment in late start classes that have not begun is not considered confirmed.

What does this mean for me (examples)?

If you have 6 credits that began at the start of the semester then your loan should be applied to your account on the disbursement date listed on the ‘Financial Aid Award’ page of your NCC SIS.  Funds are not available to the student at this point.

Late Start Classes Delay Loan Payment: If you have 3 credits that began at the start of the semester and 3 credits that begin halfway through the semester then your enrollment in 6 credits is not confirmed until we receive confirmation of enrollment in the class beginning halfway through the semester. Your loan should be applied to your account about 3 weeks later. Funds are not available to the student at this point.

When are the funds available to me?

The business office processes all the loans and this process can take up to 14 days.  A third party servicer then sets up refunds for any students whose aid is higher than their bill. The third party servicer will send an email to the student email address once the refund has been set up.  If you have direct deposit, you may receive your refund within 7 days after the business office processes all loans.  No pick up at any location is available.

Log in to your NCC SIS, select ‘Student,’ then ‘Student Records,’ then ‘Account Summary by Term’. When you see the loan applied to your account and “NCC Refund” showing, the refund has been scheduled.

IMPORTANT: If you drop a class(es), officially or unofficially, this may impact your loan eligibility as you must have confirmed enrollment of 6 credits at the time the loan is applied to student accounts.
