Professor Lisa Furman has been a faculty member at Nashua Community College since 2020. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and General Special Education from Rivier University and a master’s degree in creative arts and curriculum from Lesley University. She then earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Learning from Rivier University. Currently, Professor Furman serves as the Program Coordinator for the Early Childhood Education Program at NCC, where she teaches various courses related to early childhood development and education, oversees the student teachers, and collaborates with area childcare centers.
Before joining the college, Professor Furman was a first-grade teacher and has experience teaching preschool through third grade, gaining valuable experience working directly with young children. One of the most interesting aspects of her career is that she once owned and operated a preschool and kindergarten program in her community long before public kindergarten was offered in her district. This unique experience has shaped her teaching philosophy and gives her a deep understanding of the importance of early childhood education, connections with families, and community resources.
