FAA-approved training prepares grads for careers in aviation technology
After a one-year hiatus, the Aviation Technology associate degree pathway is returning to the Nashua Community College campus to train the next generation of technicians.
“We’re very pleased to provide this crucial training to students,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs, Robyn Griswold. “Not only does it fill a critical need in the industry, but the Aviation Technology degree is a great way for students to access a lifelong career pathway right here in New Hampshire.”
The Aviation Technology degree program prepares students for professional careers in aviation maintenance, allowing graduates to seek employment with airlines, fixed base operators, or aircraft manufacturers.
About the Curriculum
The degree pathway place major emphasis on the study of actual aircraft, structures, and powerplants and related systems. The 21-month curriculum includes one summer session and covers a wide variety of subjects concerned with airplanes: reciprocating engines, turbines, fuel systems, propellers, ignition, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. Nashua Community College is the only FAA-approved training facility in New Hampshire. Successful completion of the Aviation Technology degree is designed to prepare graduates to pass the FAA airframe and powerplant certification examination.
Industry partners and financial assistance
Faculty and college leadership work with industry partners to strengthen career pathways for students. Currently, there is a high need for skilled workers in the region. Through these partnerships, students have a variety of options for scholarships to offset tuition. Students also have access to financial assistance from the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) through NH Works
Students from outside New Hampshire are also eligible for in-state tuition rates for Aviation Technology, and the rest of the programs within the Industry and Transportation Department: Honda, Collision Repair, Automotive Technology, and the new Automotive Technology-Mazda pathway.
