ESOL Placement at Nashua Community College

Nashua Community College uses multiple measures to place students in the right courses and programs. Students whose primary language is not English may take either the College Board Accuplacer or the ESOL Placement Assessment to help determine their placement.

Taking the Accuplacer:

Choose one of the following Accuplacer testing options:

 

1. Remote Accuplacer (Take the Test at Home)

Take the test on your personal computer. You will receive an email with your voucher and testing instructions.

    • Requests must be submitted by November 10, 2026.
    • All remote vouchers expire on November 15, 2026.
    • You must complete your test by November 15, 2026.
    • No remote vouchers will be issued from November 11, 2026, through January 4, 2027.
Remote Testing Fees (Paid to ProctorU at Registration)
    • Proctor Fee: $29.50
    • On-Demand Scheduling Options:
      • Take it now (less than 24 hours): +$12
      • Take it soon (24-72 hours): +$8
      • Schedule 72+ hours in advance: No additional charge

2. In-Person Accuplacer (Take the Test at NCC)

    • Testing Date: December 8, 2026 at 4 PM
    • Snow Date:  December 15, 2026 at 4 PM
    • Cost: Free

Taking the ESOL Placement Assessment:

The ESOL Placement Assessment consists of two parts:

Part 1: Self-Survey (Complete at Home)

      • You will receive an email with a Self-Survey to complete on your computer or mobile device.
      • Must be completed by January 10, 2027.

Part 2: In-Person Assessment at NCC

      • Date: January 12, 2027
      • Time: 4:00 PM
      • Cost: Free

If you are uncertain whether you need to take the ESOL placement test, please contact the NCC Admissions office at 603-578-8908 or by email at [email protected].

Students must self-identify a learning need that may require testing accommodations before taking the placement test. 

If you had an IEP, 504 Plan, or a documented disability in high school, you may qualify for testing accommodations.  On the Placement Request Form, please answer the following question:

 Select “Yes” and check your email for further instructions for completing the Testing Accommodations Request Form and submitting the required documentation.

We are committed to providing equal access to testing for all individuals. Translation services are not an approved accommodation. The placement test must be taken in English.

NOTE: 

  • The test is untimed, so you may take as long as needed.
  • You may complete different sections on separate days.
  • The test must be completed in English; translation services are not approved as accommodations.
