Two-year program offers pathway to entry-level work or 4-year degree
Nashua Community College will offer a new associate degree for Fall 2026, Business Administration: Finance Concentration.
The Community College System of New Hampshire’s Board of Trustees approved the degree April 16.
“The approval of our new Business Finance degree represents an important milestone for Nashua Community College and reflects our commitment to providing relevant, career-focused education,” said Dr. James Keane, President of Nashua Community College. “This program was developed in close alignment with workforce needs and will equip students with the financial, analytical, and strategic skills required to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment. We are excited to implement this program and to expand opportunities for our students as they prepare for meaningful careers and continued academic advancement.”
Business Department Chair, Professor Kim Eckenrode, said the new degree will provide students with a strong foundation in financial concepts, accounting practices, and core business functions.
“The degree is geared toward a variety of students; those already in entry-level positions who want to learn more and see this as a step to advance in their career, and also the high school students who want a career in finance and see this as a stepping stone to their 4-year degree,” said Eckenrode.
Its course sequence emphasizes practical application, analytical thinking, and ethical decision‑making to prepare students for today’s rapidly changing business environment. Through coursework that blends theory with hands‑on learning, students develop skills in financial analysis, data interpretation, and professional communication that support effective organizational decision‑making.
“It’s also a great program for those students who thought their career path would be in accounting, but then they found that wasn’t for them. They can stay in the financial world,” said Eckenrode.
Once it launches this fall, the new program at NCC will be the sole Finance degree offered by the Community College System of New Hampshire.
Graduates from the Business Administration: Finance Concentration will be prepared for entry‑level positions or management‑training opportunities in banking, insurance, investments, corporate finance, and non‑profit organizations. Or, transfer into bachelor’s degree programs in finance or related fields.
