Overview
Automotive Service and Repair Certificate classes are available in the evenings, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Saturday. The certificate will provide graduates with the skills to be an entry-level technician in the automotive field.
Students will be required to provide their own personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, welding gloves, and protective shoes. Students will also need to purchase a basic automotive tool kit and roll cabinet.
The Certificate in Automotive Service and Repair is complimentary to the Automotive Technology Associate Degree at NCC. Students who wish to complete the Associate Degree can start their second year as a degree student.

Fall Semester
Spring Semester
Upon the completion of the certificate in Automotive Technology, graduates will be able to:
- Fundamental operations of an internal combustion engine
- Foundational Electrical skills for a diagnostic career
- Shop safe, equipment and proper usage
- Steering and suspension system operation, diagnostics, repair and adjustment
- Brakes system operation, diagnostics and repair
In addition, the graduate will be able to demonstrate competency in the general education outcomes.
In addition to the general admissions requirements, the Automotive Service and Repair applicants should be aware of the following criteria:
- A minimum of one year of high school Algebra I is recommended.
- Basic skills in written English are required.
- A basic automotive tool kit and roll cabinet are required.
- Students are expected to possess a good work ethic and a strong desire to learn.
- A valid driver’s license is required to be accepted into the program. It is recommended students be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
- A copy of a clean driving record will be required of all students enrolling into the Honda PACT or Mazda MAST program.
